You might like to know that there are various ways to fly to the area. Ryan Air flys from Stansted to Perpignan, which is about
35 minutes north of Collioure.
We usually fly into Barcelona because there are no direct flights into Perpignan from Ireland.
Other direct flights to Barcelona operate from Birmingham, Gatwick and Heathrow; with EasyJet from East Midlands, Liverpool and Luton;
and from Manchester and Heathrow with Iberia. Barcelona to Collioure is about a 2-hour drive - all on the motorway.
Although there are also slower more scenic routes along the coast and through the mountains.
Girona airport in Spain is about halfway between Collioure and Barcelona, and Ryan Air have recently commenced direct flights from Dublin to Girona.
For what it is worth, we have found that car hire is quite considerably cheaper in Spain than in France.

P&O depart Teeside and arrive Zeebrugge. 1160 km. 10:30 hours.
P&O also depart Hull and arrive Zeebrugge.
P&O, Britanny Ferries depart Dover and arrive Calais. Also Eurotunnel. 1141 km. 10:10 hours
Brittany Ferries depart Portsmouth and arrive Le Havre. 989 km. 9:30 hours
Brittany Ferries depart Portsmouth and arrive Caen. 948 km. 10 hours
Brittany Ferries depart Portsmouth and arrive St-Malo. 949 km. 8:40 hours
Hoverspeed depart Newhaven and arrive Dieppe. 989 km. 9:40 hours
