Book Search

Read Ireland's search engine allows you to search by Author, Title or Keyword, or Publisher. You don't have to fill in all the boxes. If you remember only part of an author's name or just a few words from the title, fill those in and the Read Ireland search engine will find the book you are looking for.

Author Search

• To search by author, enter the author's last name in the Surname box. Use the author's first name to help narrow your results.
• You don't have to type the complete name. You can type in the first few letters of an author's last name to perform a partial name search.

  Search Tip: The author search finds books written by that author, not about that author.

• A search for "Joy" will display results for "Joy, Breda" and "Joyce, James."

Ordering

Read Ireland welcomes orders for any book currently in print. Once you have found the books you are looking for and your shopping basket is complete, simply fill in the online order form. Be sure to complete the entire order procedure. At the end you will see a screen saying 'Thank you for your order'! Your order will be manually confirmed by electronic mail, usually within 24 hours. I only use auto-responders when away on vacation.
• What is the Shopping Basket and how does it work?

  The Shopping Basket holds all the books you have decided to order -- and you can order as many books as you like. From anywhere in the Read Ireland site, you can view the books you have added to your cart simply by clicking on "View My Shopping Basket" (the link is always visible at the bottom of the page).

• How do I put books in my Shopping Basket?

  When you perform an Author, Title, Category, or Keyword search, you will be presented with a list of books that match your search. Click on the checkbox that says "Select This Book". Then click the button at the top or bottom of the page that says "Add Selected Books To My Shopping Basket".

• How do I make changes to my Shopping Basket?

  To change the quantity of an item or remove it from your Shopping Basket, click on the "View My Shopping Basket" link at the bottom of any page. You will see all the items in your basket. After you modify the quantity or remove an item, click Check Out.

  You may make changes to your shopping basket at any time.

• Must I buy every book I put in my Shopping Basket?

  No. Placing books in your Shopping Basket does not obligate you to buy them. You may remove any books prior to calculating the total cost. To do this click the link "View My Shopping Basket" Select the books that you want to remove and then click the button that says Remove Selected Books.

• How do I order books?

  When you are finished shopping, go to your Shopping Basket. You will see a list of all the books you have selected. If you wish to purchase more than one copy just enter the new quantity in the quantity box. Select the postage method you would like us to use. To purchase these books, select the Calculate Total button.

  This will bring you to a page informing you of the books you have ordered and the cost excluding and including shipping charges.

  For your convenience there is a link to a currency converter from this page.

  Also on this screen you will be asked to enter your billing address and details. We need this to confirm and process your credit card information. At the same time, you may elect to have your books shipped to an address other than your billing address. To check your order details, select the Check Details button.

  Important note: We will confirm your order via email. Please ensure your email address is correct!
  

  This will bring you to the order summary page. On this page you will see all of the books that you are ordering and the sub-total of your order, including Shipping charges. If you are satisfied with your selection, click Order.

  If you do not find the book you are looking for on our shelves, please let us know by filling in our enquiry form. No deposit or pre-payment is required for book searches. Your search request will be acknowledged by electronic mail, usually within 24 hours.

Privacy Policy

We collect and collate the email addresses of all users of the Read Ireland website and add them to our Read Ireland Book News mailing list. We do not sell or loan these addresses to anyone, ever!

Corporate, Academic and Library Accounts

We offer specialised services to accommodate Corporations, Academic Institutions and Libraries.

Corporate and Academic accounts enable businesses, libraries, universities and other institutions to purchase books up to a predetermined credit limit and receive an invoice.

Payment

Credit Cards:
We accept VISA, ACCESS, and MasterCard only.

Cheques:
We prefer payment in Euro by a cheque drawn on a bank with an office within Ireland. We will also accept cheques in your native currency subject to a 10% surcharge to compensate for bank charges and fluctuations in currency exchange rates.

Invoicing:
You may arrange to have the books invoiced to you. Payment in Euro by a cheque drawn on an Irish bank is preferred. We will also accept cheques in your native currency subject to a 10% surcharge to compensate for bank charges and fluctuations in currency exchange rates. Payment is expected to be received within 30 days of your receipt of the books.

Shipping

Orders are shipped anywhere in the world. Shipping charges are determined by destination and are added to all orders. Shipping charges are determined by the number of books placed per order regardless if they are shipped as a single parcel or as a separate parcel for each book. Shipping is charged at the actual cost; the charges quoted online are for guideline purposes only. The charges, however, will never be more than those quoted online.

• Orders for books we have in stock will be shipped the next day. Titles that we must order from their publishers will take longer, but usually not longer than 2 weeks.
• If we are notified by the publisher that there will be a delay on the book ordered, we will notify you immediately by electronic mail.
• Any customs or import duties are levied once the parcel reaches its destination country and are the responsibility of its receiver.

Cancelling Orders

If you must cancel an order, please notify us at ri-info@readireland.ie or by phone or fax as soon as possible. Orders may only be cancelled if we receive your cancellation prior to your order having been shipped by us. Please include your name, the title of the book(s) you wish to cancel, and a phone number or electronic mail address where you can be reached.

Returns and Refunds

We unconditionally guarantee every book we sell. If you are not completely satisfied with your purchase, you may return it to us for a refund. Books must be returned carriage paid to: Read Ireland, 392 Clontarf Road, Dublin 3 Ireland. Please include a copy of your invoice/receipt if possible.

If you paid for the book with a credit card, please include the credit card number with the return and we will issue a credit to your credit card immediately upon receiving the book, less the shipping charges. It may take up to 30 days for the credit to appear on your charge statement. Please contact your credit card company or bank if it does not appear by then.

Prices

All prices are in Euro and are correct at the time of entry onto the database. Please note that they should be used as a guideline only as publishers change prices seemingly at random. Also, currency valuations change daily. For an exact price quotation, please specifically request the information with your order. This will delay our response by 24 hours or so while we contact the publishers.
